It’s always nice to stay in touch with my clients and see how their families grow. I first met Kamma after photographing her son at nursery. Four years and two more children later, here’s the latest addition, gorgeous!

Sunita & Mark were married at The Mansion, set in the beautiful grounds of Roundhay Park in Leeds. As you’ll see from the amount of ‘detail’ photos below I loved the dress & henna, gorgeous vibrant colours. I couldn’t leave out two of the stars of the day, Sooty & Sweep! These were Mark’s childhood toys and brought out by the best man in the speeches, who did a fantastic puppet show for us all.

Many of you will know my love for theatre photography. Well, how exciting to combine this with photographing a wedding! I had been looking forward to this wedding ever since Pippa told me where it was going to be. I used to photograph Pippa in theatre productions whilst we were both at the same University together. A few years and Facebook chats later and we found out that I’m still doing photography and she’s still in theatre.
Wilton’s Music Hall couldn’t have been a more perfect venue for Pippa and Calum. They were married on stage in the beautifully characterful old building. Built in 1829 it has retained its charm and oozes a sense of history.
When they suggested walking round the streets behind the venue to get some more ‘gritty & urban’ photos of the two of them I got even more excited. Bins, dirty streets and billboards make fantastic backgrounds, I love the juxtaposition of grubby and smart (juxtaposition is my favourite word, glad I managed to get it in there!).
To see more photos from the wedding click here to see the slideshow, set to ‘When I’m Sixty Four’, sang during the ceremony. Great choice and perfect for the happy, fun mood of the day.

The beautifully lit stage…

Poppies Diner: The coldest drinks in England. Really?!

I love this one, there’s a lot going on in this photo in terms of composition; vertical pillars, bollards and walls combined with diagonals of the overhead track, yellow (grey!) lines on the road and horizontal shafts of light.

The side lighting coming through the large front door, old brickwork, fun couple, what a combination! (oh, and my favourite lens, the 50mm f1.4 for the fellow geeks out there).

Cool favours… Mr & Mrs Bunce’s Wedding Marmalade!

Tony & Fi had a fantastic spring wedding at Oakley Hall, in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. (Yes, I know it’s June and I’m talking about spring, I’m a little behind on my wedding blogging!). Fi looked brilliant, and I was excited to photograph my first bride not wearing the traditional white dress. To say there was no shortage of entertainment would be an understatement; multiple singers, dancers & bands kept everyone entertained all day, awesome!

Helen Blake has a beautiful voice and highly recommended to entertain your guests!

One of Tony & Fi’s two ‘first’ dances.

The Collection were excellent and kept the dance floor packed all night. (They’ve got a great website too, check it out). Love the lighting in this one.

Back from a lovely few days in Croatia. We stayed at the amazing Hotel Amfora on Hvar Island (highly recommended!).

I’m always a sucker for pretty doors, here’s one of the many door pictures I now have in my collection!

Fish Market in Split.

Not sure what the fish were, but everyone was selling them and they had brilliant colouring.

We also went to Dubrovnik for the day. This one is taken from the sea walls of the old city.

I was very impressed by the stranger that took this one for us through the old city walls, check out the lighting and composition, nice!

A couple of my favourite photos from First Dance Studio’s excellent production at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking.
