British Institute of Professional Photography
The BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography) is an internationally recognised organisation. Its qualifications are a world recognised benchmark of excellence.
The Licentiateship (LBIPP) shows an established professional level of skill and competence.
Unlike other "professional" photography organisations, the BIPP is for qualified members only. You may find photographers using various photography body's logos, but there are some that allow this just by paying the monthly subscription, with no vetting procedures.
To gain my qualification, I submitted a panel of 20 images to be judged by five Fellows (FBIPP) together with a 'working profile'. This included a brief description of each photograph and why I chose to include it in my submission. Along with this, I had to show evidence of professional indemnity and public liability insurance. All professional photographers should hold this insurance, but sadly many decide to cut corners. By hiring a BIPP qualified photographer, you are assured that they meet these basic levels of skill and professional practice.
